It always starts with you. Whether we’re talking about business or life, everything begins with your thoughts, your state of being, and your choices. These are shaped by how you grew up, past experiences that formed your beliefs, your current environment, and your ability to make decisions. This is where personal growth plays a crucial role. To illustrate the importance of personal growth, let me share a personal experience from January 2024. I didn’t eat for 100 days. Yes, you heard that right. 100 days! No supplements, no shakes, no juices—just water, and sometimes a black coffee or herbal tea. I did what most people on planet Earth believe is impossible. According to experts, authorities, and doctors, I should be dead by now. The belief that we need food 3-5 times a day to perform optimally is so deeply ingrained that anything else seems unhealthy, even impossible. Many of us have heard that fasting for a day a week can be healthy. Some people might even try a week-long fast. And then there are those in the spiritual world who take it to the next level with 40-day fasts, which are often criticized and labeled as “dangerous” by so-called “medical experts.” Yet, when I did my bloodwork during my fast, doctors were baffled. Despite walking 10,000 to 12,000 steps daily, I was healthy, happy, energetic, and fit, with blood results that were perfectly fine. I remember one doctor asking, “How can you do that? You look fitter and healthier than I am, you smile, and your blood looks great. According to what I’ve learned, you should be dead by now…” This experience made me realize that personal growth is about challenging conventional beliefs and understanding that reaching our full potential starts within. This brings me back to the title of this article: 5 Steps to Embracing Your Full Potential in Life. The purpose of this discussion isn’t to explain how I managed the fast but to share the principles that can be applied to any area of life—whether it’s business success, better relationships, financial achievements, health, or any other aspect of life. Here are the 5 steps: 1. Decide We need to know what we want, and that requires making a clear decision. For me, it was straightforward: I decided to fast for 100 days and aimed for personal growth, and I wanted to be healthier afterward than when I started. Many people wish, dream, or hope, but they aren’t 100% certain about what they truly want. Even if they are, most don’t make a concrete decision or set a clear timeline for achieving it.   If you don’t decide what you want, you’ll struggle to achieve anything. For instance, if you want to make $1 million in revenue by 2025, you must first make that decision. Don’t worry about the “how” just yet; that will come later. For now, focus on making a decision! 2. Educate Yourself Once I made my decision, I dedicated time to educating myself. I researched everything I could about fasting: the positive effects, possible risks, methods, mental and physical preparation, and how to reintroduce food afterward. Two things are crucial in this phase: be open to learning new things and ensure that you’re learning from reliable sources. Misinformation can lead to failure, and the correct information leads to personal growth and success.   If your goal is to generate $1 million in revenue, then become the best in your niche. Study everything you can about your field. Understand the market, your competition, and what sets your product or service apart. The more knowledge you acquire, the better equipped you’ll be to succeed. Education builds confidence and lays a strong foundation for the steps that follow. 3. Commit  With the knowledge and understanding gained, it’s time to commit fully. Are you all in? There’s no room for “maybe” or “I think.” It’s a yes or no question. When I committed to fasting for 100 days, I did so with confidence because I had educated myself thoroughly. Commitment comes from aligning with your core values. If a decision is genuinely yours and it resonates deeply with your inner beliefs, you will find the strength to see it through. If you’re doing it for someone else or because of external pressure, you’re more likely to give up when things get tough. Tips for Staying Committed Align with Core Values: Make sure your goal aligns with what you truly believe and value. Avoid External Pressures: Focus on why you are doing this for yourself. Reassess Regularly: Continuously check in with yourself to make sure you’re still committed because of your core values. 4. Strategy At this point, you need to develop a strategy to achieve your goal. I created a detailed plan outlining what I would do each day and how I would handle different scenarios. The same applies to any goal. For example, if your objective is to make $1 million, break it down. Calculate how much you need to earn each month or week. Let’s say you have a service that costs $15,000; figure out how many monthly sales you need to make. From there, determine how many people you need to contact, how many discovery calls you need, and the conversion rate of those calls. How to Create an Effective Strategy Set Milestones and Break Down the Goal: Identify the smaller steps needed to reach the bigger goal. Calculate Required Sales and Efforts: Understand and track the numbers behind your goal. Adjust Based on Progress: Be flexible in adjusting your strategy based on what works and what doesn’t, based on your numbers. Having a strategy allows you to reverse engineer your goal into smaller, manageable tasks. It provides clarity and direction, helping you stay on track and measure progress. Figure Out Who You Really Are Let’s start with a question that most of us shy away from: Who are you? Not the titles you hold—mom, dad, CEO, or influencer—but the person behind all those roles. Strip them away, and what do you find? If everything you identify with was gone tomorrow, what would be left of you ?   Imagine this: you reach a point in life where you say, “I drop my body.” Who is this “I” speaking? It might sound strange, maybe even unsettling, but this question is crucial for personal growth. Many people avoid these deep reflections because they’re uncomfortable. But growth doesn’t happen inside the comfort zone. It happens when you challenge yourself to look beyond the surface.   Take your time with this. Don’t force the answers. Sit with the question. Feel the discomfort. It’s okay not to have the answers right away. This is about peeling back the layers that society, upbringing, and even your own beliefs have placed on you. The more you ask yourself, “Who am I without my job, my relationships, my achievements?” the closer you get to understanding your core self.   This isn’t about dismissing your roles in life; those are important. But it’s about knowing that there’s more to you than just those roles. At your core, there’s a unique individual with passions, desires, and dreams that exist beyond your daily responsibilities.
